Our Probate Practice
We work closely with executors, administrators and personal representatives, as well as heirs, to help complete the requirements of the probate process and successfully close an estate. Because Washington has a "user-friendly" probate process, we can often complete the probate process with minimal involvement from the court.
We will help you complete all the necessary steps to settle the estate, putting together an inventory of assets for you, helping you ensure payment of all final debts and taxes of the estate, and overseeing the orderly distribution of property in accordance with the terms of the will. We can also handle any disputes arising out of the probate of an estate, including will contests.
We also handle property distribution that does not go through probate, including
- real property held as joint tenants or tenants in common
- payable upon death bank accounts
- life insurance policies
Our Trust Administration Practice
When you set up a trust, although the assets will not be subject to the probate process, there may be other administration issues upon death. We will work with you at all stages of the establishment and administration of a trust. We will help you set the trust up in ways that best protect your interests and the interests of your loved ones. We will also ensure that, upon your death, the property held by the trust is distributed according to your wishes.
We also provide important help to fiduciaries in carrying out their responsibilities as trustee, personal representative, and/or power of attorney.
